About Backbone1.0

Started in 2015, BACKBONE1.0 is a multi-institutional project to build a 3D dataset of all mammalian vertebrae with the main goal to compile and make available to scientist as much phenotypic data as possible of the mammalian vertebral column.

It is a dynamical dataset, as we hope to continue including more 3D models of vertebrae belonging to taxa beyond mammalian carnivoransand including fossils.

BACKBONE has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), the Andalusian Research Agency (PAIDI), and the University of Málaga.

The institutions involved are the University of Málaga, University of Córdoba, University of Valladolid, University of Alicante and National Museum of Natural History (Madrid).
